Traffic Safety Data Analyst Internship
The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a data analysist intern to join our Traffic & Safety team!
As a student employee, you will conduct research and complete data entry on a variety of transportation projects, develop interactive dashboards or data visualizations from various datasets, and maintain databases by enhancing data quality over time on new and existing data through continual data clean-up efforts.
During your time as an intern with the Iowa DOT, you will also have the opportunity to:
- Create or revise the automation tools to optimize daily operation performance and effectiveness according to different user requirements via Excel Visual Basic
- Learn and master the standards and the procedures of a variety of projects, track and report progress for projects to your leader.
- Document the standards, instruction, and procedure of the project.
- Assist the manager to improve automation, efficiency, and effectiveness of solutions, and training process.
We are seeking a current student who has a strong work ethic, is an active problem-solver, and is detailed oriented. This student will need to balance project needs independently while maintaining communication with their leader.
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience with Visual Basic, R, SQL, and Python
- Have experience with Power BI, and ArcGIS
- Interest in learning more about transportation industry

Requirements: Currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution.
Salary starting at $16.46/hr.
