The Iowa DOT District 1 Materials Office is tasked with Verification testing and Independent Assurance sampling on state and/or federal transportation projects. We are looking for an “Administrative Intern” in the Computer Science Major to help our Team with developing workflows for documenting and reporting requirements.  Currently we are using MS Office products including Excel, Sharepoint, Power Automate, Power Apps and would like to further leverage their capabilities.  If you are looking to put your skills to use in a real-world way that helps us ‘do more with less’, please apply.

Be aware, as the COVID situation continues to affect the construction season, the intern may be asked to complete work outside on construction sites, in office settings, in manufacturing plants, or remotely from home. Good communication of risk tolerance and flexibility in changing conditions is a must.

Requirements: Junior status upon return to school.

Additional requirements: Interns must possess a valid driver’s license, be comfortable driving a DOT pickup truck or car, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.  We are looking for people who are eager to learn, can receive instruction, and can work as part of a team and independently.

Salary starting at $15.98

Duration options:  Part Time Spring Semester Intern (up to 20 hours/week), Summer Intern (40 hours/week), Part Time Fall Semester Intern (up to 20 hours/week) OR Co-Op (Jan-May) or (May-Dec) 40 hours/week in place of classes.
