Position overview:  

This intern position is located within the GIS Section of the Office of Traffic & Safety, and conducts work on behalf of the entire Traffic & Safety office.  The individual will perform a variety of GIS tasks involved with the development, maintenance and implementation of geospatial assets.  

Work tasks:

  • Utilize both desktop (ArcGIS desktop and ArcGIS Pro) and online (ArcGIS Online) resources to create and edit data assets.
  • Creation and customization of both digital and hardcopy maps.
  • Will work with end users on collecting needs, documenting and implementing solutions to meet user needs.
  • Documentation of data resources.
  • Providing end-user training and involved with creation of training materials.
  • Identify and implement automation solutions to improve efficiency of office tasks.

Preferred background:

  • Interest in working with ESRI and Microsoft products.
  • Interest in geospatial and database technologies.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duration: May-August with possibility transitioning to part time hours in the fall if student remains eligible; course of study remains relevant to the work or student does not complete course of study.

40 hours/week

Salary starting at $14.41/hr.
