The Iowa Department of Transportation, Office of Systems Planning, is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern/Co-op student that will assist in the maintenance and development of cartographic products and database information. The team maintains various data sets and utilizes agency data sets in the development of maps depicting the status, characteristics and other related features of roadways, railroads, trails, pipelines, and hydrography. The maps are generated in a wide variety of output formats from standard paper maps to online data-driven interactive maps. The position also provides assistance in the short-term traffic data collection and analysis group performing a variety of tasks supporting the permanent and temporary field staff.

Applicants majoring in Community and Regional Planning with geographic information system experience in ArcGIS, GeoMedia or similar are preferred.

Position Duration: Full time Co-op rotation; 40 hours/week, May-December 2017.

Requirements: The position is only available to students who are currently enrolled in a degree program pertaining to the position duties. The position is based at the DOT Central Office in Ames.

Salary is $14.27/hr.
